A Few Words

About Me

I have worked in Community Development and Leadership working in Women’s Centres in Tower Hamlets for the last 27 years.

I currently manage the Projects and Programmes at the East London Mosque which includes the Maryam Women’s Services- providing Information Advice and Guidance, Maryam Counselling Services, Tours and Visits Team, Engagement Projects and Programmes, Senior Citizens Projects, User groups to the Maryam Centre.


Organising for social justice is in the heart of my work and I am a Leader and Organiser at The East London Communities Organisation (Telco) and Citizens UK.

I represent the East London Mosque and London Muslim Centre and the Maryam Centre on the Domestic Violence Forum, No place for Hate Forum, The Tension Monitoring Group, Tower Hamlets Interfaith Forum. I also chair the Shared Life Panel and am Panel member for the Tower Hamlets Domestic Homicide Panel.
A third sector Director, I started started work at the Wapping Women’s Centre in 1997 and worked with Bangladeshi women and families by designing projects giving them valuable skills for employment and education. I set up one of the first Community Organic Garden to bring people on a housing estate together.
In 2012 I was appointed as one of a 14 commissioners to serve on the Tower Hamlets Fairness commission.

Muslim Women's Collective

The Muslim Women’s Collective exists to support and empower the women, families. Also it aims to empower women by providing a safe and supportive environment, and giving women access to educational, social and recreational programmes and activities.  

Kids Kingdom Nursery

Kids Kingdom Nursery its main aim and programme is to support and empower the women, families. Also it aims to empower women by providing a safe and supportive environment, and giving women access to educational, social and recreational programmes and activities.  

Wapping Womens Centre

Wapping Womens Centre aims to empower women by providing a safe and supportive environment, and giving women access to educational, social and recreational programmes and activities.
